The following is the exclusive interview with local Houston area female motocross sensation Elizabeth McFarland.  She was nice enough to grant us an interview with her while she was at Highlands MX Park trying to qualify for Ponca City.  The AC was out in her trailer, but that didn’t stop her from taking the time to speak with us.

Tapped Out:  How long have you been riding?

Elizabeth:  Since I was six, so that’s been 13 years

Tapped Out:  What was your first bike?

Elizabeth: A PW…it had little purple fenders on it and it was cool!!

Tapped Out:  When did you start racing competitively?

Elizabeth:  I started racing when I was 6 and that was the same year I started riding, so within a year, I was racing.

Tapped Out:  How old are you now?

Elizabeth:  19

Tapped Out:  So you are hoping to make it to Ponca this year?

Elizabeth:  Yes, last year I went and got like 5th or 6th my first moto and in the second moto I got taken out.  I am hoping to do better this year.

Tapped Out:  What class do you ride there?

Elizabeth:  Women’s open.

Tapped Out:  Were you happy with your results at Freestone this year?

Elizabeth:  Yes

Tapped Out:  You got like 4th didn’t you?

Elizabeth:  Yes, in the intermediate class.  I was excited about that!!

Tapped Out:  Do you think its hard being a girl in motocross?

Elizabeth:  In a way…..I think it is…..but in a way, I think it is better to be a girl.  I don’t know….I know racing against guys is tough, some of them beat me, but I don’t mind.

Tapped Out:  What bike do you ride now?

Elizabeth:  I have a Yamaha 250F

Tapped Out:  Do you maintain it yourself?

Elizabeth:  Noooo

Tapped Out:  Who is your mechanic?

Elizabeth:  My dad.  He does a lot of work on it.  I want to learn how though.  I know some things, but not a lot..(laughs)

Tapped Out:  Thanks of the time today Elizabeth, and good luck!!
